A Ramen Experience

While roaming around the mall yesterday, I decided to try out a restaurant I'd been putting off ever since moving here, A Ramen. The reason it took so long for me must be because of its presentation. From the outside, it looked very mysterious. No person could be seen because they were all dining behind a blind. I walked in and the staff immediately told me which room I'd be sitting in. Walked through the blind and saw around 5 people in that room. The room was rather small but spacious enough to be comfortable. We were all separated, giving a feel like we were all taking a test, a core gimmick of the restaurant.

To make an order, I had to fill out their "test". The design of their order sheet was so good that it gave me flashbacks to when I was a teenager filling out my answer sheet. I hate to admit that I felt a bit uneasy doing it. Truly an experience.

After filling out my order (I asked for a moderate spicy, oily ramen with extra garlic), I pressed the red button and the staff jump scared me by rolling up the wooden blind in front of me. I didn't expect it to open. I thought it was just a decor.

I handed in my papers and played around with the blind now knowing that it connects to their secret tunnel. After about 2 minutes I got my order (very fast!).

Noodles (counting ramen) are my favorite type of food, so it was no surprise I enjoyed mine. They allow customization of spiciness value of up to a maximum of X7 (the order sheet also had a warning saying that their chili is very spicy). I ordered X2 out of caution and found it to be the sweet spot for light, relaxed dining. The extra garlic also didn't disappoint.

I was very satisfied but afraid that I'll have to knock a few points off for the price. I ordered RAMEN CUSTOMIZED and DRINKING WATER for THB 160 and THB 20 respectively. That sums up to a total of THB 180, a high price for what I got in my opinion. I give A Ramen a solid 7/10 for its fast-delivery, great taste, and their unusual test taking gimmick. Signing off with a picture of their hallway connecting the rooms (the windows to the left is the outside world) and a picture of their 550 mL drinking water.
